According to numerous sources, including FragHero – Infinity Ward are currently developing Call of Duty Ghosts 2, and it can be expected to arrive in shops, and online November 2016.
After months of rumours being exchanged all over the internet, we finally have the latest definitive information, since Games TM leaked the game in February.
Firstly, Ghosts 2 is planned to be the sequel to Call of Duty Ghosts, originally released in 2013. Another great piece of news from FragHero is that Riley (The K9 Soldier) will be in the game. While there is not currently much information regarding any of the key elements of the game, there are a few pieces of information such as, the game will be redesigned from scratch, which means it will be able to take full advantage of the Xbox One, PS4 and PC’s increased graphical capabilities, this also does mean that the game should be more gripping, and looking better than ever.
Speaking of Riley, the loveable K9 Soldier, reportedly – you will be even able to play as the wonderful German Shepherd within the game, playing as an animal has not been seen before in the Call of Duty Franchise, so this could be really interesting – and it will also be intriguing to find out how it works.
More information will be released during E3 this year, along with a gameplay demo. However, it is currently not known whether the PC version of the game will be released at the same time as the console versions, or whether it will be a staggered release. The game is also not being released for last-gen consoles, such as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Is Ghosts 2 the right move for the Call of Duty Franchise?
The inevitable fact is, that Call of Duty Ghosts, while not being the worst Call of Duty game, (that would be Advanced Warfare, released a year later) – it was nowhere near one of the best. It was simply generic, and while Infinity Ward released some great Call of Duty games, such as the Modern Warfare series, the company is now lacking the founders who were the brains behind the Modern Warfare series, and since then Call of Duty has being declining, until the release of Black Ops III which was hugely popular.
However, it does seem inevitable that we will have to cope with another Call of Duty Ghosts game, all of the other Call of Duty series have also had sequels, so it seems likely there will be a sequel to Call of Duty Ghosts. However, hopefully this time it won’t be a generic shooter, and will feature some new content.
Another rumour about Call of Duty is that it will return to World War II with Infinity Ward, this is a much better idea, rather than making the game more and more futuristic with each instalment, however, it may also be Treyarch or Sledgehammer Games that will create the World War II shooter, there currently is no definitive evidence, simply rumours – however the fans would definitely appreciate a World War II shooter, taking a step back from the futuristic pathway the COD Series seems to be currently taking.
