There were some really fascinating melee weapons in the original COD Ghosts and we’d love to see some of them make a return in Call of Duty Ghosts 2. Whilst some of the melee weapons were mostly just for cosmetic purposes, some of the other weapons provided players with additional benefits and we think they can add a lot more variety to the playing field in online play. Below we have listed some of our favorite COD melee weapons that we’d like to see in the next game.
The Axe was originally released in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 but it made it’s way into COD: Ghosts as well. Currently Ghosts and Black Ops 2 are the only games to include the Axe weapon and we think this is a big shame because it’s pretty awesome. In Ghosts the Axe can be used as part of a field order reward – it is a one hit kill melee weapon from any angle and it has a faster attack than the standard knife, despite being a lot larger. A similar axe is also used by Gabriel T. Rorke during the campaign.
The Push Dagger is a melee weapon that has only made a brief appearance during the Ghosts campaign. Ever since then the Push Dagger has not been since in the COD franchise. The Push Dagger is a small concealed handheld blade that can be used to take down enemies from behind quickly. The Push Dagger can also be thrown at enemies. We think this item could be a worthy addition to the multiplayer melee weapons arsenal in Call of Duty Ghosts 2.
With clear inspiration from Alien vs Predator, the Wristblades item can only be used when completing a field order on the Ruins map on the original COD Ghosts. We think that the Wristblades need to get more action and we’d love to see them return as a perk or a killstreak reward in Call of Duty Ghosts 2. Just like the Axe, the Wristblades are a one hit kill but they don’t feature faster attack speed.
