Whilst we’re pretty confident that Activision and Infinity Ward will continue with Call of Duty Ghosts 2 in 2016, there has been some confusion over what the next name for the upcoming Call of Duty title will be. Whilst the Ghosts story arc is the one that makes the most sense to continue, we think that there are a couple of other possibilities that aren’t completely worth throwing out the window.
Below we’ll be talking about some potential alternatives to Call of Duty Ghosts 2 that may make it this year instead.
Call of Duty Bloodlines
A rumor has been circulating around the internet since early 2016 that seems to suggest that the next Call of Duty game from Infinity Ward will be called Call of Duty Bloodlines. There doesn’t seem to be much factual evidence to back up the rumor, but publications have gone wild with this title.
If Call of Duty Bloodlines is the next title for the 2016 Call of Duty release, it could potentially mean a couple of things. The first thing is that Infinity Ward may continue the Ghosts storyline but they may opt to call it Bloodlines instead of Call of Duty Ghosts 2 to freshen things up a little. Some publications believe that Call of Duty Ghosts had a negative public reception so by changing the title, Infinity Ward may be able to work on the same story arc without carrying any negative attention that may come from re-using the Call of Duty Ghosts name.
Alternatively, Call of Duty Bloodlines could be a completely new experience that takes players to a brand new world and new storyline. We think this would be an odd choice for Infinity Ward, especially after they have put so much work into building up Ghosts from the ground.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Could it be possible that Infinity Ward returns to their Modern Warfare roots? With Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch going towards the futuristic theme, a Modern Warfare refresh might be just what the Call of Duty franchise needs to keep things new and exciting. With it being so long since MW3, we’re not sure this will be the case, at least not for this year but it’s not completely ruled out.
New Leaks Suggest COD Ghosts 2 in 2016
About a week ago, new leaks surfaced confirming what we’ve been speculating on for months now. According to a very reputable source, COD Ghosts will be the next installment and will be launching in November of 2016. This was sourced material from a very reputable company out of the UK that presumably slipped a bit earlier that what was intended.
Let’s be very clear though that Infinity Ward, who will be the mastermind behind the 2016 installment in the Call of Duty franchise has yet to confirm this, but the latest leaks confirms our suspicions.
